Any Questions or Comments?

In C.’s class, the kids are supposed to do their talking and then solicit feedback from the class by saying, “Questions or comments?” and then choosing 3 of their peers, those with raised hands, to offer their questions or comments.
I mention this because I would like to solicit any questions or comments. And you don’t even have to raise your hands!
Jump right in. If the unexamined life is not worth living, it seems to me that the unexamined blog isn’t much worth writing either.
Thanks!

I know this feeling, where you are writing and writing and nobody appears to be reading it.
If you weren’t who you are, working in the field that you do, I’d ask you if you were tracking your hits. I agonized over my comments (or lack thereof) until I started tracking my hits and realized only a small percentage of my readers bothered to comment. I have also gotten a lot of comments from people who say they are longtime readers, first time commenters.
When I first started my blog, I found that I got more comments if I commented the hell out of other people’s blogs. The writers and readers of those sites that I commented on got curious about who I was, visited my blog, and some of them eventually linked to me or subscribed to my feed or just commented once and never came again (but they commented once at least!).
One thing I am really bad about is following other blogs. When I get busy, it’s all I can do to update my own blog a couple times a week, and my blog reading falls way off. For some reason I never read the few blogs I’ve subscribed to via RSS, so the blogs I read are the ones I remember to visit or the ones that comment on my site regularly.
I don’t really know where I’m going with this, just commiserating, mostly.
PS. How the heck do you find time to make awesome creative kid birthday card invitations? I bow before your industrious mothering.

Yeah, I’ve done commenting around, and I picked some interesting blogs to add to my blog roll — people I don’t even know. I don’t use an RSS feed either, I just click on the links.
So, thanks for your comments.
Oh and as for the invitations, it’s one of those things I just do because I love to. I think it’s akin to how you like reading trashy escapist novels. I use the time that would otherwise be used reading novels. When I take the time to do a fun and creative project, I feel happy.
Oh, I also use a really fun program that came with my mac, called Comic Life. If you look at my Pages menu you’ll see two other ‘comics’ that I made. They are somewhat absurd. ComicLife is what i used to make A.’s card.
