Thanks for the Love!

Awww…. you know, just when I was thinking, ugh, maybe nobody out there reads this blog anymore, maybe nobody out there cares… along comes someone with a sweet sentiment to make my day.

Thanks, Lisa, mom to AJ at Option Adoption, for tagging me and passing on this award. She’s going through some scary stuff right now, so send some virtual hugs her way.

Meme – 7 things

Posted: March 15, 2008 at 12:59 pm by pann

Stacie tagged me to write a 7 random facts meme about myself. Since I pretty much love writing all about me, me, me, me, me, me, and me, this me-meme is well received.

Unfortunately, today I am a CRANKY me. So my 7 things will reflect that. There are some rules or some shit like that, but I am not playing nice today.

Here it is, the 7 reasons why I am so damn cranky today.

1. Didn’t get enough sleep last night. Spent about 2 hours dealing with a surplus of cat litter boxes (a problem that I myself am responsible for creating, since I have been procrastinating this task way way way too long). I finished this task around 12:30 am, and then needed a long, long shower to feel clean again.  Asleep in bed by 2 am, up by 8:30am.

2. Ran out of anti-depressants about a week ago. Four phone calls, two missed return phone calls complete with snotty messages left by Nurse Crachett, and one cranky visit to the doctor’s office later, I *think* there should be a bottle of happy pills waiting for me at CVS. There better be, or this will need to be an 8 reasons list instead of 7.

3.  Got up early, ran around getting C ready for her circus class, and didn’t make coffee prior to leaving the house. Not a good idea, especially considering items #1 and #2.

4. Sitting through circus class, watching C poke, nudge, and otherwise flirt with the boys, making them all be irritating and annoying and disruptive to the class whilst A insists on hanging upside down on my lap, squirming around, and spilling chocolate milk on the studio floor (no food or drink in the circus studio, please). And all this with no coffee in me. Fit to be tied, I was.

5. Dear Aunt Flo, It’s so lovely having you visit this week. My, oh my, who would have know that such incredible high tides of red could be possible. Those new jeans aren’t looking all that new anymore, but hopefully nobody’s going to be examining the crotch all that closely. Still: ew.

6. One un-medicated parent is bad enough, but two? Hi honey, I guess we both need our stimulants to be functioning. And yes, I know I’m cranky and irritable. You got some kinda problem with that?

7. Ok, I know this is LAME in the EXTREME, but PACKRAT on Facebook? What’s up with the constant error messages when I spammed my “friends” to try to get a “rare edition” card?? No card, but I bet the spam went out just fine. Grrrr.

I’d tag someone else but I am too cranky to think about whom to tag.

Snow Leopard?

Posted: December 11, 2007 at 11:40 pm by pann

I happen to have really enjoyed the Phillip Pullman book “The Golden Compass” and, in fact, the rest of the series. All this controversy that this book (or indeed, the movie that has recently opened at theaters) is atheistic is total rubbish.

In the fictional world of the Golden Compass, people have daemons which are the embodiment of their souls, a talking animal which lives outside their bodies. Sounds incredible, but you know, it’s fiction. You suspend disbelief and somehow it all works.

Stacie, over at Twinkies.bastetweb.com, apparently has a lion or a ferret or something as her daemon. There’s a fun little thingy over at Golden Compass website where you can determine what animal is your daemon. Don’t you LOVE creative film marketing ideas?

I had to give it a try too, and here’s my daemon, Nithreus, a lovely snow leopard. Do you think he suits me?

5 Rockin’ Girl Bloggers…

TBH – not only is she an incredible writer, but she manages to blog about her personal life in a fun and relevant way to the topic of her choice: Family Finances.  Check out this very smart blog and get wise to money.   Plus, she’s my really good friend.

ScienceGeekGirl – this super smart girl blogger writes about cool stuff going on in science, cyber space, and more. (And, oh yeah, we go way back, besides!) Check her out, she’s definitely a Rockin’ Girl Blogger.

Jen – This mother of triplets writes a highly amusing blog, posts adorable pictures of her kids, and recently stood up her OB/GYN when she followed her heart to not have the scheduled C-Section for her fourth baby.  For that, she wins a Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award, for sure.  Visit her site, click her ads, and send all your real labor contraction vibes her way!

The Rock Chick – With a name like that, I hardly need to explain why she qualifies.  Her blog also has a really cool name: Life is RANTastic.  Love it.  Let me just say, her blog is very entertaining.

Heather- This amazing mom not only is raising her own four little ones, she also helps other moms bring their babies into the world with the best possible information and support, both through her great personal blog and her work as a birth doula. Keep up the good work Heather!

Congrats all you Rockin’ Girl Bloggers!  Feel free to nominate 5 more fantastic girl bloggers, or not, as your heart desires.

Tag, I’m It. 5 Obsessions:

Posted: April 23, 2007 at 10:03 am by pann

1. My Blog. Yes, it’s true, this is my new baby and I am currently obsessed with it. How else could I possibly explain writing so many posts this weekend when it was incredibly f*cking gorgeous outside. Before you think me a pasty faced computer geek, though, I should mention I did spend several hours on my front lawn in a lawn chair, my Macbook on my lap, squinting while writing and reading blogs.

2. My garden. Not compatible with my first obsession, but I actually stop and count how many tulip buds are getting ready to bloom EVERY time I go into or out of the house. If that’s not obsessive, I don’t know what is.

3. My kids. They are just so cool. I gush when I look at them. I listen in on their play, and glow. I realize this may sound sickening but hey, I just adore them. Read the rest of this entry »
