Goodbye Luna. Hello Harley (aka Mooch).

She’s either dead or she’s been taken in by some well-meaning person who will appreciate her funny ways and take care of her. If she is dead, then may her ending have been swift and may she dwell evermore across that rainbow bridge in a land of catnip and good bird hunting.
If she’s been taken in by someone, I hope they are learning to turn on the faucet for her so she can sip from the dripping tap, and wash her paws the way that she likes. I hope her new owners understand that although she’s a bit haywire and will bite and scratch for no good reason, that she is still a loving creature who needs their understanding.
I do not believe she ran away from us on purpose; she was just off on a hunt, looking for trouble and found it. Maybe she met her end while trying to tangle with a raccoon, though a car is more likely the source of her demise. If she were still around here, by now she would have come meowing home, so I have to just accept it. She’s not coming back.
While trying to entice Luna home, I put out some cat food. We attracted this white and black cat who’s been a stray on our block for a while. I was surprised when I checked for what sex she is, to discover a fresh incision from having been spayed recently. Asking around the neighborhood, I found out that one neighbor had taken this stray to a clinic in order to have her spayed, but then just released the cat back into the streets. Better a stray who’s not prego, but still, if it had been me, I’d have kept her inside a while til the incision had healed.
Long story short, we took her in. Harley is a very mellow creature. She hasn’t scratched or bit anyone since coming to our house, and she purrs a lot and seems to like napping by the heater. We have three cats again. We’ll have four if Luna should miraculously be recovered to us, but I do not think we will ever see her again. Goodbye Luna. And welcome and hello to Harley (short for Harlequin).

I’m still sorry about Luna, but Harley is so cute. And I’m a little bitter on cats right now, our cat just peed TWICE on some newly installed carpet!
=^..^=

Congratulations on your new family member, kind of a silver lining in the cloud of missing Luna….I’m still hoping very much that she will come back, maybe something has just delayed her….(still hoping)
But Harley is sure cute…I am so glad you gave her a home!

I’m sorry Luna never made it home.
Harley sure is adorable, though.
