I was tidying up the living room recently when my 6 yr. old stopped me and asked me this striking question:

Mom, why are you always acting like a servant around here?

Why do you ask that?

Well, you get up every day, you make us all breakfast, you clean up, you make the lunches, you make the dinners, you clean the house, you wash the clothes, and you just keep doing that over and over and over. Why do you have to be like a maid?

Um… I guess someone has to do it. You kids are too young to cook for yourselves. Your dad sometimes does what he can, though when he’s at work obviously he can’t take care of you.

Can’t we just get a maid to do it?
