My latest project: A place to Rant
Posted: November 9, 2007 at 11:18 am by pannI just launched a new blog, Rant Haven. It’s targeted at personal bloggers who need a place to share things that they do not feel comfortable sharing on their own blogs. If you write a personal blog, you may be trying to be anonymous to most of the world, but chances are very good that you’ve shared your web address with some people who know you in real life. Oftentimes, the people we are close to can say or do things that we would like to blog about, but we don’t want to hurt their feelings. And yet, it would feel SO good to have a place to rant about it.
That’s why I created Rant Haven. I am offering free accounts to anyone wishing to rant about anything that they feel can’t be said on their own blog due to anonymity issues. So far, it has been extremely delightful: we’ve had a blogger who is lusting after her priest, a blogger whose brother has knocked someone up (or did he?), a blogger who has admitted to the thrill of shoplifting, and much talk about sex (mostly not wanting hubby’s advances!).
ANY MALE BLOGGERS OUT THERE READING THIS? Please, oh please, won’t you join the rant? We need some counter-balance. Come tell us what your side of the story is… especially when it comes to trying to get your wife to put out. There seems to be a common theme emerging: men want sex – their wifes don’t as much, or just don’t like the way that men approach them for sex. I really would love to hear some men rant about their wives’ rejection of them. Let’s get some really good controversy, I say.
The way Rant Haven works is this: email MrsRant AT RantHaven DOT com (if you’re a person, you’ll figure out how to write to that address, won’t you?) and ask for an account. (You can use a separate email account (get one at gmail, or yahoo, or wherever) which does not include your real name! ) “Mrs. Rant” will then email you back a link where you can create your account, and have a password emailed to you by the server. There’s one more step before you can publish, which is that I’ll manually set your account to have permission. I do all these steps to help keep would-be spammers at bay. Juicy controversy is extremely welcome! Any spam / abuse will be removed.
Rant Haven is an experiment. It’s lots of fun, too! I will keep it going as long as I’m able to generate enough revenue from the GoogleAd clicks (you click when an ad catches your eye, and that results in a small credit from Google) to justify the expense of hosting a site.

Hi Pann, I took a look at rant haven and I have to say I’m impressed–I’m not ready to post there yet, I rant enough on my own blog (sheepish grin), but I think I probably will be ranting there in the near future. What a great idea!!!
